Duncan and Mitcheltree Ready for NCAA Championships

Two swimmers will represent the Eagles at the NCAA Championships, the most in program history

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) — Senior Alexis Mitcheltree (Moon Twp., Pa.-Moon Area) and sophomore Delaney Duncan (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) will represent Eastern Michigan University's women's swimming and diving team at the NCAA Championships at IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in downtown Indianapolis, Ind., March 15-18.
Following a sensational senior campaign, Mitcheltree will make her first NCAA Championships appearance this week as she will compete in the 100 and 200 Backstroke. The Moon Twp., Pa. product is slotted 35th in the 100 Back with a season-best time of 52.57, while her time of 1:56.74 ranks 54th in the 200 Back.
Duncan returns to the national stage prepped to compete in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke. The Galesburg, Ill. native qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 100 Breast, where she is seeded 24th overall with a time of 59.89. Duncan hit that mark at the Mid-American Conference Championships, ultimately coming away with her second conference title in the event in as many seasons. In the 200 Breast, Duncan will look to improve on her 54th-seeded time of 2:14.01, which she also clocked at the MAC Championships. Last season, the Galesburg, Ill. product secured Second Team All-American honors in the 100 Breast, touching in with a time of 59.90 to claim 14th-place, the first freshman in program history to earn the distinction. She added a 54th-place finish in the 200, clocking in with a time of 2:14.33.
The NCAA Championships begin Wednesday, March 15, while the Eagles will begin competition Friday, March 17. ESPN3.com will stream the championships finals sessions live on Friday and Saturday. Wednesday's evening session, Thursday's sessions, along with the morning sessions on Friday and Saturday, will be streamed live on NCAA.com and indianasportscorp.org/ncaasd.
