INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) - The NCAA announced yesterday, Feb. 28, that junior Jordann McDermitt (Davison, Mich. - Davison) of the Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team qualified for the 2017 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

This marks the first time in her career that McDermitt has qualified for the indoor championships, as she attended the outdoor championships last season. The junior, who will be comepting in the 5000m after snagging the No. 6 seed, becomes the first Eagle to attend the meet since 2014 when Sarah Chauchard competed in the pentathlon.

McDermitt's No. 6 seed comes from her incredible time of 15:50.16, set at the Iowa State Classic, Feb. 10. Her mark was not only a career-best, but it also reigns supreme in the EMU record books. The Davison, Mich. native recently wrapped up the Indoor Mid-American Conference Championships, Feb. 24-25, finishing with a trio of top-five performances to earn All-MAC second team honors.

The NCAA Championships will be held by Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, beginning Friday, March 10. The 5000m is scheduled to take place on Friday, beginning at 8 p.m. CT. For more information on the NCAA Championships, please click here.
