YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team remains on the road this weekend, Feb. 10-11, splitting up for the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash. and the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Mich.

Most recently, the Eagles competed at both the Meyo Invitational and the Hillsdale Classic, Feb. 3-4. The Green and White had two solid days of competition, with the distance squad leading the way in South Bend, Ind.

At the Meyo Invite, junior Leighton Antonio (Hudson, Ohio – Hudson) earned a spot in the 60m dash semifinals, clocking in with a personal-best time of 6.85 seconds. Sophomore Tyler Underwood (Clinton, Mich. - Clinton) led the Eagles in the 200m dash, taking seventh with a personal-best time of 21.69 seconds, while Antonio took 10th in 21.79.

In the mile, redshirt senior Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio – Maumee), had a fantastic race, posting a time of 4:02.88, which was just behind his career-best. Redshirt junior Hlynur Andresson (Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland - Mountain Ridge) brought home eighth-place in the 3000m, nabbing a personal-best time of 8:06.69, which was also the ninth-quickest 3000m time in EMU history. Additionally, it also broke the Icelandic indoor record, which was 8:10.94 from 2007.

Redshirt junior Nick Raymond (Erie, Mich. - Mason) brought home the gold in the 5000m, crossing the finish line in a personal-best 14:21.28 to finish atop the podium. Fellow redshirt junior Lahsene Bouchikhi (Antwerp, Belgium - Stedelijk Lyceum Paardenmarkt Luchthaven) also had a solid race, finishing fifth in 14:30.61. In the jumps, sophomore Cameron Hart (Columbus, Ohio - Bishop Hartley) finished ninth in the long jump and 14th in the high jump, while fellow sophomore Micah Peters (York, Ontario - Vaughn Road Academy) snagged ninth in the triple jump.

Over in Hillsdale, freshman Colin Etchen (Edgerton, Ohio - Edgerton) turned in the best pole vault of his career, posting a vault of 4.65 meters/ 15 feet 3-inches to take eighth. Additionally, sophomore Elijah Barber (Columbus, Ohio - Eastmoor Academy) secured a third-place finish in the 400m dash, while fellow sophomore Colin Burdette (Hilliard, Ohio - Hilliard Davidson) nabbed fourth in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:27.38. Finally, redshirt sophomore Zach Purcilly (Troy, Mich. - Avondale) took home a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a career-best throw of 16.09 meters/ 52 feet 9.5-inches.

Three Eagles jumped into the top-50 of the NCAA Division I Indoor Qualifying List according to the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) based on their performance at the Meyo Invite. Fink now holds the No. 40 spot in the mile, while Andresson ranks No. 44 in the 3000m. Raymond joins three more Eagles in the top-25 of the 5000m, as he now holds the No. 23 spot. Additionally, the Eagles also hold the No. 3 spot in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association event rankings when it comes to the 5000m.

The Husky Classic is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. PT on Friday, Feb. 10, with the men's weight throw and the women's 200m dash. Day two from Seattle will begin at 9 a.m. PT with the women's 60m hurdles.
