Eagles of the Week Presented by EMU Credit Union

Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success on the field
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMU Credit Union's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are track and field athletes Hlynur Andresson and Jordann McDermitt.
Hlynur AndressonSport: Men's Track
Position: N/A
Year: R-Junior
Major: Biology
Week's Achievements: Andresson had an incredible race for the Eagles at the Meyo Invitational, Feb. 4. Andresson brought home eighth-place, clocking in at 8:06.69, which was a career-best and the ninth-quickest 3000m time in the EMU record books. Additionally, it also broke the Icelandic indoor record, which was 8:10.94 from 2007. Andresson's time also currently sits at No. 44 in the NCAA Division I Indoor Qualifying List.
Jordann McDermittSport: Women's Track
Position: N/A
Year: Junior
Major: Exercise science
Week's Achievements: McDermitt had the best 3000m race in program history this past weekend at the Meyo Invitational, Feb. 4. McDermitt finished third in the loaded field, clocking in with a career-best time of 9:10.42, which was a career-best and the best 3000m time in the EMU record books. Her time currently ranks No. 8 in the nation according to the NCAA Division I Indoor Qualifying List.
