Riley Cholod has also found success on bars this year, with her season-high being a strong 9.85, while Nicole Szabo has scored a 9.775 on the event.

Last Time Against the Flames: Eastern and UIC most recently met back in 2015 as part of a quad meet hosted by Lindenwood, Feb. 28. There, the Eagles defeated all three teams in attendance, finishing with a 195.125, while the Flames totaled 191.300.
EMU's best event on the day was floor, where Chantelle Loehner scored a career-best 9.90. Behind her, Rachel Slocum also had a great day, notching a personal-best 9.875, while Anna Willette posted a 9.80.

Eagles Break Bars Record: Eastern kicked things up a notch on bars this past weekend at WMU, breaking the program record with an impressive event total of 49.250. Kendall Valentin led the way, tying her career-best with a 9.925. Catie Conrad also tied her personal-best, scoring a 9.90. From there, Natalie Gervais and Lacey Rubin both notched a 9.825, while Sydney McEachern posted a 9.775.

Valentin Claims Pair of Awards: For her performance at Western Michigan, Jan. 29, Kendall Valentin was named both the MAC Specialist of the Week, as well as the MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week. The Holmdel, N.J. native began the meet in Kalamazoo on bars, tying her career-best with another excellent 9.925, highlighted by a clutch stuck dismount. On the final event of the day, the junior posted a 9.875 to pace the Green and White on beam, helping Eastern finish with the ninth-best beam total in program history. This marks Valentin's second time earning both awards.

Beauty and the Beast Moved to Bowen: Due to a change in the EMU men's basketball schedule, Eastern's home meet against Kent State, Feb. 10, which is part of the 'Beauty and the Beast' event has been moved to Bowen Field House. The event will still take place at 7 p.m., and admission will be free to all. The competition will be a throwback of sorts for the team, as gymnastics meets previously took place in Bowen prior to moving to the Convocation Center in 2015.

EMU in the Rankings: Eastern continued to climb in the rankings, as this marked the team's fourth straight week with a team ranking better than the week previous. This time around, EMU comes in at No. 29 as a team, holding an average team score of 194.525. The Eagles currently sit one spot behind No. 28 NC State and one spot ahead of No. 30 New Hampshire.
Bars remains the team's best event, as they remain ranked in the top-10. After breaking the program record last week, the Green and White moved up to No. 7 in the nation, holding an average event total of 49.131. EMU also jumped into the top-40 on beam, as the team now sits at No. 38.
On the individual side, Kendall Valentin continues to be one of the top bars performers in the nation. The junior currently sits in a tie for No. 6 in the country with an average score of 9.894.

Rising Beam Scores: The Green and White have been ascending on beam throughout the season. In fact, the team's event scores on beam have risen in each meet so far this year. Within the last two competitions, the Eagles have notched a 48.950, which tied for the 10th-best beam total in program history, and a 48.975 last week, tying the ninth-best beam score in the record books.

Consistency at CMU: The Eagles were able to defeat Central Michigan in large part due to consistency across the board. In total, the Green and White went a perfect 24-for-24 at the meet, with the lowest score being just a 9.525, which was not counted. All four event scores were within .250 of being a 49. In fact, Eastern had their best event scores of the season on all four events.

Consistency from Conrad and McEachern: Through the first four meets of the season, Catie Conrad and Sydney McEachern have been incredibly consistent for the Eagles. In total, the pair have competed a total of 22 routines, posting 21 hit routines. Conrad has already posted four scores of 9.8 or better on bars, including a big 9.9 at WMU, as well as two scores of 9.75 or better on beam. McEachern has been the team's leader on floor, notching a 9.825 in Kalamazoo.

Last Time Out: After dropping Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant, the Eagles then traveled to Kalamazoo and defeated Western Michigan, 195.400 - 194.900, Sunday, Jan. 29. The Eagles had another outstanding day on bars, breaking the program record with a huge 49.250, in addition to tying the ninth-best beam total in the EMU record books.
Kendall Valentin had another incredible meet for the Green and White, tying her career-best on bars with a 9.925, while also scoring a strong 9.875 on beam. Catie Conrad also had a great day on bars, tying her career-high with a 9.9.
Lacey Rubin continued to be her consistent self, notching a pair of 9.825's on bars and beam. Additionally, Natalie Gervais also competed on those two events, scoring a 9.825 and a 9.8, respectively.

Newcomers in the Lineup: A number of newcomers to the lineup have been making an impact early in the season. On vault, Megan Hultgren debuted a yurchenko half, scoring a career-best 9.70 at Illinois. Additionally, Ciara Gresham competed on beam against Kentucky, Jan. 6, scoring a solid 9.70. Sydney Audet continues to impress on floor, posting a career-best 9.825 on floor at CMU, while freshman Emili Dobronics made her EMU debut on floor in Mount Pleasant, scoring a 9.75. Dobronics then added two more events to her arsenal at WMU, competing on both vault and beam, notching two hits.

Eagles Welcome Ella Dover: The Eagles, in unison with Team IMPACT, announced Thursday, Dec. 8, that the team signed 10-year old Ella Dover to a ceremonial letter of commitment to join the team for the next few years.
Ella suffers from chronic epilepsy and has multiple seizures daily. This, however, does not have an impact on her attitude, as she is always smiling and approaching life with a positive mentality. Ella will be a regular at practices and meets, and will also join the Green and White for team activities and events throughout the year. In fact, Ella was in attendance for the team's season opener against Kentucky, in addition to making the trip to Kalamazoo for the WMU meet.

Looking Ahead: After heading to Chicago, the Eagles return home for the first time in nearly a month. The Green and White will host Kent State inside Bowen Field House as part of the 'Beauty and the Beast' event, Friday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. Eastern will compete in Bowen for the first time in a few years due to a schedule change for the men's basketball team.
