YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Five total home dates, including a pair of midweek tilts against Ball State University and Bowling Green State University, along with a trio of nationally-televised conference road contests, highlight the 2017 Eastern Michigan University football schedule released Wednesday, March 1, by the Mid-American Conference office.
The Eagles will be showcased nationally a total of five times in October and November to close the regular season. The five straight midweek contests to close the schedule are a program first since the MAC began playing nationally-televised non-Saturday November games in 1999. Last season, Eastern Michigan was a part of the phenomenon termed "MACtion" for its final three regular season games, including a historic 21-point come-from-behind victory over Ball State on Election Night to become bowl eligible for the first time in 29 years.
An updated release of the MAC 2017 football schedule will be released in June with kick times and a television schedule for the first three weeks of the regular season and midweek games during late October and November. All other game kick times and television will be announced 12 days prior to the scheduled game.
Eastern Michigan opens the season at home against Conference USA foe University of North Carolina-Charlotte, Sept. 1. EMU will then hit the road, traveling to Big Ten Conference opponent Rutgers University, Sept. 9. An early season bye week is followed by a visit from MAC East Division Champion Ohio University, Sept. 23.
Fourth-year Head Coach Chris Creighton and his team will then be on the road for the next three weekends with stops at the University of Kentucky, Sept. 30, the University of Toledo, Oct. 7, and Army West Point, Oct. 14. The Green and White return home for the annual homecoming contest against defending MAC Champion Western Michigan University, Oct. 21, for its final Saturday contest of the season as it transitions to midweek football.
EMU treks to DeKalb, Ill. Thursday, Oct. 26, to battle Northern Illinois University on either CBS Sports Network or ESPN3. A Thursday, Nov. 2, contest inside "The Factory" then awaits EMU against Ball State before back-to-back road games at Central Michigan University Wednesday, Nov. 8, and at Miami University Wednesday, Nov. 15. The Eagles then close the regular season against Bowling Green Tuesday, Nov. 21. The pre-Thanksiving finale marks just the second time since 2007 that the Eagles will not have to play on "Black Friday".
The regular season will conclude with the 21st Marathon MAC Football Championship game at a date to be determined from Ford Field in Detroit. This will mark the 14th Marathon MAC Football Championship game at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions, Super Bowl XL, and the 2009 NCAA Men's Final Four.
Season tickets for the 2017 football season are now on sale to see the Eagles. EMU will look to build upon its resurgence last year that saw the program finish tied for the most improved program in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).
Eastern Michigan continues to offer the Ultimate Fan Season Ticket Plan for just $105 ($21 per game). The premiere plan includes a padded chairback seat at midfield along with free parking. Fans can also order reserved non-chairback season tickets for just $70 ($14 per game), EMU faculty and staff can secure non-chairback season tickets for $50 ($10 per game), and Young Alumni (35 and under) can purchase season tickets for only $40 ($8 per game).
New this year is the EMU season ticket holder referral program that is designed to encourage fans to share their love of EMU football with friends, family, and co-workers by referring them to become season ticket holders. The program rewards season ticket holders each time they refer a customer who buys football season tickets. For more information on the program, call the EMU Athletics Ticket Office at 734.487.2282, or visit EMUEagles.com/referral.
Buying a season ticket is your best deal, as you will save 44 percent when compared to the single-game rate at the door.
Single-game tickets will go on sale Aug. 7. Fans can purchase adult tickets for $15 in advance or $25 on the day of the game, while youth 12-and-under are just $8. Purchasing tickets in advance of gameday not only saves time waiting in lines at the door, but is also a savings of 40 percent!
Additionally, groups of 15-or-more can receive greatly discounted pricing by contacting the EMU Ticket Office at 734.487.2282 to arrange an outing.
EMU students continue to gain free admission with a valid student ID.
Non-VIP parking remains a $5 charge per vehicle and a $20 charge per motor home or vehicle that takes up two spaces or more. For VIP parking, sign up for the Eagles Pride Suite or Eagles Pride Loge level ticket packages, which both include free access to the VIP lot. Parking lots will open four hours prior to kickoff of each home football game.
Parking for disabled patrons is available at the Convocation Center. A state issued handicapped pass is required. A courtesy shuttle will also be available to and from all designated parking lots with a drop off location at gate 2.
Tickets are on sale online at EMUEagles.com/tickets, by calling 734.487.2282 or by visiting the EMU Ticket Office daily between 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
