EMU to Auction Off Special Autism Awareness Uniforms

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — As we near "March Madness" and the end of the basketball regular season, the Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team's regular season is coming to a close as well, and for its final home game and Senior Day, March 3, 2017, the EMU Basketball team will wear a commemorative uniform with proceeds being donated to the Autism Collaborative Center (ACC) on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. These special uniforms are designed with individual puzzle pieces that reflect the complexity of the Autism Spectrum and have been used nationally to support services and early intervention. In addition, all uniforms will include the Autism Awareness Ribbon, the most enduring and recognized symbol of the autism community that represents diversity, inclusion, and acceptance.
In addition to the team wearing these uniforms for the game, they will be made available to the public in a special auction style purchase. Bidding will take place online and fans can do so by clicking here. Bids will begin at $200 and each following bid will be increased $25 more than the previous. Select jerseys will also be available for a set purchase price as well.
The uniforms with numbers 0, 1, 2, 10, 15, 32, and 40 are available by auction only. Meanwhile, the uniforms with numbers 3, 4, 5, 12, 20, 21, 23, and 35 are available for the flat price of $250.
These items will be available for auction until Wednesday, March 8, at 11:59 p.m.
To begin bidding, all participants much register. All auctions are conducted within the rules and regulations of the NCAA.
Eastern Michigan returns to action Tuesday night, Feb. 21, when it travels to Muncie, Ind. to square off with Ball State University. The Eagles (13-14, 5-9 MAC) and Cardinals (17-10, 8-6 MAC) hit the floor at John E. Worthen Arena at 7 p.m. The game can be watched live on ESPN3 or fans can listen in at 89.1 FM WEMU.
