The Eagles now turn their attention towards next week's MAC Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team wrapped up another successful regular season today, Feb. 17, at the GVSU Tune-Up in Allendale, Mich. The Eagles used the meet as an opportunity to gain a bit more experience prior to hosting the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships next week, Feb. 24-25.
In the 800m run, redshirt sophomore Nick McFarland (Hillsborough, N.J. – Hillsborough) had the best mark of his career, taking sixth with a personal-best time of 1:54.99. Freshman Dan Kuhn (Erie, Pa. – Harbor Creek) also finished in the top-10, nabbing ninth after clocking in at 1:56.16. In the mile, redshirt junior Caleb Hess (Owosso, Mich. – Owosso) also secured a top-10 finish, crossing the finish line in 4:19.94 to take eighth.
Sophomore Frank Douglas (Mansfield, Ohio – Madison Comprehensive) snagged a spot in the 60m hurdles finals, taking third in the prelims with a time of 8.53 seconds. In the finals, Douglas improved upon his prelims placing, taking second with a mark of 8.33 seconds.
In the high jump, freshman Drew Lament (Lakeview, Ohio – Waynesfield-Goshen) turned in a seventh-place finish, posting a mark of 1.75 meters/ 5 feet 8.75-inches. Sophomore Nick Herbert (Portage, Mich. – Portage Northern) brought home gold for the Eagles in the long jump, winning the event with a solid jump of 6.83 meters/ 22 feet 5-inches.
Sophomore Micah Peters (York, Ontario – Vaughn Road Academy) secured third in the triple jump with a mark of 14.13 meters/ 46 feet 4.25-inches. A pair of throwers also finished in the top-10 in the weight throw, as sophomore Zach Harkey (Huron, Ohio – Huron) took seventh with a throw of 16.72 meters/ 54 feet 10.25-inches, while redshirt sophomore Austin Hazek (Medina, Ohio – Medina) nabbed eighth with a mark of 15.93 meters/ 52 feet 3.25-inches.
Next week, Eastern hosts the MAC Championships inside Bowen Field House, Feb. 24-25. The Eagles now look to capture their first indoor title since 2013.
