McDermitt Secures MAC Track Athlete of the Week Honors

The junior ran the quickest 5000m time in program history

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Just one week after earning the honor for the fifth time, junior distance runner Jordann McDermitt (Davison, Mich. - Davison) of the Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team was selected once again as the Mid-American Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today, Feb. 14.
McDermitt broke yet another record for the Eagles this past weekend at the Iowa State Classic, Feb. 10. This time, McDermitt did it in the 5000m run invite, finishing second and crossing the finish line in a career-best 15:50.16 to break the EMU record in the event. The Davison, Mich. native's time currently sits at No. 4 in the Division I Indoor Qualifying List.
This marks the sixth time in McDermitt's career that she has been named MAC Track Athlete of the Week, as the Davison, Mich. native earned the honor last week, as well as twice last season and two times in 2015. McDermitt and the Eagles conclude the regular season this Friday, Feb. 17, traveling to the GVSU Tune-Up in Allendale, Mich.
