Eagles Turn in 10 Career-Bests on Day One of OSU Winter Invite

Marcella Da Costa and Abby Saddler turned in two top-16 finishes each
COLUMBUS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team wrapped up day one of competition at the Ohio State Invitational, Saturday, Feb. 11. Overall, the Eagles turned in five top-16 finishes and 10 career-bests.
Freshman Marcella Da Costa (Rio de Janeiro , Brazil) and junior Abby Aumiller (Canton, Mich.-Salem) paced the Green and White, turning in two top-16 finishes apiece. Da Costa claimed eighth-place in the 100 Butterfly, clocking in with a career-best time of 57.93. The Brazil native also added a 16th-place finish in the 100 Backstroke, where she touched in with a time of 59.00. Meanwhile, Aumiller's top finish came in the 500 Freestyle, where the Canton, Mich. product finished 11th with a season-best time of 5:09.96. She later added a 13th-place finish in the 100 Back, touching in with a career-best time of 57.88.
Junior Abby Saddler (Chanhassen, Minn.-Minnetonka) also posted a top-16 mark, finishing 10th in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:08.21.
The Eagles return to the pool tomorrow, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. for prelims. The finals session is slated for 4 p.m.
