Kevin McAdoo scores a career-high 12 points off the bench

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team concluded the non-conference portion of its schedule with a comfortable 67-48 victory over Rochester College Friday, Dec. 29, inside the Convocation Center.

The Eagles (9-4) snapped a brief two-game slide and improved to 10-0 all-time against the Warriors (11-7).

Freshman Kevin McAdoo (West Bloomfield, Mich.-West Bloomfield) netted a career-high 12 points off the bench on 4-of-4 shooting, including a pair of triples. Redshirt junior Paul Jackson (Stone Mountain, Ga.-Martin Luther King Jr. (Eastern Kentucky)) also added 12 points, while fellow junior James Thompson IV (Baton Rouge, La.-Parkview Baptist) contributed six points, three blocks, and a team-best eight rebounds. Senior Tim Bond (Baltimore, Md.-City College High School) tallied seven points, four boards, and paced EMU with four steals.

The Eagles shot 47.1 percent from the field on 24-of-51 shooting, while the Warriors connected on 19-of-60 field goal attempts for a 31.7 percent clip. EMU's defensive discipline paid off as the Eagles committed nine fouls compared to Rochester's total of 22. The Green and White also out-blocked the Warriors, 11-1 and earned 12 thefts.

EMU carried the play to begin the contest, as Jackson and Bond hit back-to-back baskets to give the Green and White a four-point lead within the opening minute. The Eagles took advantage of the Warriors' 14 first-half turnovers, one of which resulted in a powerful one-handed slam by Bond to give the Green and White a 7-3 lead with 17:38 to play in the first half.

Tied 8-8, a three-pointer from redshirt junior Terry Harris (Dix Hils, N.Y.-Half Hollow Hills West (Houston Baptist)) jump started a 20-6 run lasting nearly eight minutes as the Eagles grabbed a 28-14 advantage with 6:13 remaining in the first frame. EMU continued to add to its lead, scoring the final seven points of the half to take a commanding 45-22 lead into the intermission. The Eagles also capitalized on the Warriors' foul trouble, knocking down 13-of-20 free throw attempts in the opening half, while Rochester went 2-for-2 in the first period.

The Eagles utilized their roster depth throughout the contest, netting 30 bench points en route to the win. Head coach Rob Murphy has led the Green and White to a perfect 21-0 record against non-NCAA Division I opposition in both exhibition and regular season games.

Eastern Michigan opens up the New Year and Mid-American Conference play with a 7 p.m. tilt at Ball State Tuesday, Jan. 2. The Eagles return to the Convocation Center Saturday, Jan. 6 for their first bit of home #MACtion, taking on Bowling Green at 12 p.m. as part of a double header with EMU's women's team, who takes on Toledo.
