YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Junior Nicole Swartz (Dayton, Oio-Centerville) of the Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team was named the CollegeSwimming.com Swimmer of the Week for the Mid-American Conference, for her outstanding performance against Oakland University, Saturday, Nov. 11. This is the first time Swartz has earned the accolade and the first weekly award for an Eagle this season.

In the dominating 199-101 victory over the Golden Grizzlies, Swartz racked in a meet-high 27 points after three first-place individual event finishes and a third-place in a relay. Starting the meet with a dominating top-finish in the 1000 freestyle, the Dayton, Ohio native touched in at 10:11.23, three seconds before the next competitor. Swartz jumped right back in the pool to head an Eastern sweep in the 200 free with a season-best time of 1:54.24. Moving onto the 500 free, Swartz turned in a time of 4:58.94 to add another nine points to her total before capping the afternoon with a third-place finish in the 400 free relay.

CollegeSwimming.com selects 44 women and 38 men's conference swimmers-of-the-week based off the previous weeks swimming results. The selections are independent of selections made by each conference every week.

The Eagles return to the pool after a three-week break to compete in the EMU Invitational, Dec. 2-3. The first day of action is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. in Jones Natatorium.
