The senior led the Mid-American Conference in attack percentage
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University volleyball senior Kelly Ferguson (Lemont, Ill.-Lemont) earned Mid-American Conference honors Wednesday, Nov. 15, as she was named to the All-MAC Honorable Mention team.
Ferguson led the MAC in attack percentage with a .374 mark and was sixth in the conference in blocks per set at 1.02. Ferguson and the Eagles had the best blocks per set average in the conference with a 2.49 mark, and finished tied for second in opponent attack percentage at .174.
"Kelly has been great for us all year long," said head coach Kimi Olson. "Her statistics are good, but her impact on the team is incredible. Her leadership and enthusiasm is one of the reasons behind this incredible run that we're on and hope to continue at the conference tournament."
The Eagles' final blocks per set average is the best for an EMU squad in the last 15 years, and the final opponent attack percentage ranks as the lowest since the 2003 team that finished with a .168 mark.
Eastern Michigan made the MAC Tournament on the last day of the season, winning four in a row to end the season for the first time since the 2005 campaign. The Eagles take on No. 5 Buffalo Thursday, Nov. 16 at 4:30 p.m.
