Tosh Kawaguchi Earns CollegeSwimming.com Swimmer Of The Week

This is the second time Kawaguchi has earn the title this season

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University recognizes junior swimmer Tosh Kawaguchi (Cary, N.C.-Cary) who was named the CollegeSwimming.com Swimmer of the Week for the Mid-American Conference for his performance against Oakland University, Saturday, Nov. 11. This is the second time Kawaguchi has earned the accolade this season, having previously been awarded it for the period ending Oct. 16.

Bringing in a meet-high 22 points, Kawaguchi led the Eagles in their 193-107 win over Oakland last weekend. After starting the meet with a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay, Kawaguchi touched in second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.50. The Cary, N.C. native earned his first event win of the afternoon in the 200 back, leading the field with a season-best time of 1:47.08, three seconds ahead of the runner up. Kawaguchi ended the meet strong, posting another top-finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:51.63.

CollegeSwimming.com selects 44 women and 38 men's conference swimmers-of-the-week based off the previous weeks swimming results. The selections are independent of selections made by each conference every week.

The Eagles are currently on a three-week hiatus before returning to the pool for the EMU Invitational, Dec. 2-3. The first day of action is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. in Jones Natatorium.
