Suisham signed a ceremonial letter of commitment following the Eagles' season opener

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Women's Basketball Head Coach Fred Castro and the Eagles signed 14-year old Alyssa Suisham of Royal Oak, Mich. to a ceremonial letter of commitment Friday, Nov. 10.  Joining the squad through the Team IMPACT organization, Alyssa was diagnosed with hypotonic cerebral palsy at nine months and began experiencing seizures at two years old.

Through Team IMPACT, a nonprofit based in Boston whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team, Suisham will become a member of the EMU women's basketball team, attending practices, games, and events.

Since its inception in 2011, Team IMPACT has matched 1,100+ children to over 450 colleges and universities throughout the country. The child gains great strength, camaraderie, and support, and the student athletes are taught lessons about courage, resiliency, and life perspective that they can't learn in a classroom.

After a 83-61 win against Florida A&M, the Eagles return to action Monday, Nov. 13, when they welcome Warriors of Rochester College to the Convocation center. Action is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
