Cross Country's Zach Young Earns MAC Runner of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com)
– Eastern Michigan University freshman Zach Young (Marion, Ill.-Marion) earned Mid-American Conference Runner of the Week honors for his outstanding performance in the EMU Fall Classic, Oct. 20, the league office announed Monday, Oct. 23. This is the first weekly award earned by Young in his career.

Young capped off an impressive freshman campaign by leading the Eagles with a team-best 22nd-place finish at the Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Mich. His 5k time of 16:02.3 was nearly 30 seconds faster than what he clocked in during the season opener, the Michigan Open, which is held at the same course. On the season, the freshman put together team-best performances in three meets, as well as the team's second-best performance in the Spartan Invitational.

The Green and White now turns its attention to the Mid-American Conference Championship, which takes place Saturday, Oct. 28, in Oxford, Ohio.
