Fink Named MAC Track Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio. (EMUEagles.com) - For the fifth time in his career, redshirt senior Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio - Maumee) of the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team was named the Mid-American Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday, Jan. 31.
Fink competed in just one event at the EMU Triangular, Jan. 28, but the Maumee, Ohio native made it count. The redshirt senior posted a converted time of 4:04.25 in the mile, winning the event over a pair of teammates who took second and third. Fink's time currently sits atop the conference, ahead of three other EMU distance runners who round out the top-four.
Fink also secured the honor three times last season, as well as once in 2015. The Green and White continue the indoor season later this week, heading to a pair of meets. EMU will send student-athletes to the prestigious Meyo Invitational, Feb. 3-4, in South Bend, Ind., as well as the Hillsdale Classic, Feb. 3-4, in Hillsdale, Mich.
