Valentin Reels in MAC Specialist of the Week Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — For the second time this season, junior Kendall Valentin (Holmdel, N.J. - Holmdel) of the Eastern Michigan University women's gymnastics team was named the Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday, Jan. 31.
Valentin had another outstanding meet for the Eagles in Kalamazoo, playing a vital role in EMU's victory over WMU, along with also breaking the EMU bars record. The junior began the meet on bars, matching her career-best with another incredible 9.925, highlighted by a stuck dismount. On the final event of the day, the junior secured a 9.875 to pace the Green and White on beam, helping Eastern to the ninth-best beam total in program history.
This marks the third MAC weekly award of Valentin's career, as she earned specialist honors two weeks ago, along with also being named MAC Gymnast of the Week following the team's season-opening meet last year. Valentin and the Eagles will head west this weekend, traveling to Chicago for a meet with the UIC Flames, Sunday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m.
