Softball Tabbed Sixth in the West in MAC Preseason Poll

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University softball team was predicted to finish sixth in the Mid-American Conference West Division as voted by the coaches, the conference announced Monday, Jan. 30.
Three different teams received votes to win the East, with Kent State coming out on top despite Ohio earning six first-place votes. Miami was ranked third, followed by Akron, Buffalo, and Bowling Green.
In the West Division, Northern Illinois was the predicted champion with eight first-place votes. Central Michigan, who also earned a first-place vote, came in second, followed by Toledo. The Rockets garnered two votes for the top spot, ultimately ranking third, while Western Michigan, Ball State, and Eastern Michigan rounded out the division.
Ohio was named the preseason favorite to win the 2017 Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship, leading the way with four votes, while five other teams received nods. Kent State and Northern Illinois earned three and two votes, respectively, while Buffalo, Bowling Green, and Miami received one vote each.
