Alsu Bogdanova Selected as MAC Track Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Senior distance runner Alsu Bogdanova (Kazan, Russia - Lyceum #83) of the Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team was selected as the Mid-American Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today, Jan. 24.

Bogdanova had a pair of first-place finishes at the GVSU Open this past Friday, Jan. 20. The senior began with the mile, winning the event with a time of 4:42.33. In fact, her finish was the second-quickest mile time in the nation between Jan. 16 and Jan. 22. She also had another strong race in the 3000m, winning the race by nearly 12 seconds with a time of 9:38.16.

This marks the fifth time in Bogdanova's career that she has been named MAC Track Athlete of the Week, as the Kazan, Russia native earned the honor a total of four times last season. Bogdanova and the Eagles continue the season with a home meet this Saturday, Jan. 28, playing host to the annual EMU Triangular.
