MAC Release
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Senior Lacey Rubin (Plainsview, N.Y. - Plainsview Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy) was named the Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week, the league office announced today, Jan. 24. This marks the second consecutive week in which an Eagle has won the award, as junior Kendall Valentin (Holmdel, N.J. - Holmdel) received the honor last week.
Rubin had an outstanding meet in the team's 195.925–194.650 road victory over Central Michigan, Friday, Jan. 20. Rubin played a pivotal role in helping the team post the sixth-best team score in the EMU record books, along with helping the bars lineup tie the program record with a 49.225 on the event. Individually, Rubin tied her career-high on bars, scoring a 9.90 after a beautiful routine to take second. Additionally, the senior also finished atop the podium on beam, scoring a strong 9.875, which was just behind her personal-best.
The honor is the second of Rubin's career, as she also was named MAC Specialist of the Week last season in early February. Rubin and the Green and White remain on the road this weekend, heading to Western Michigan, Sunday, Jan. 29, for a 1 p.m. bout with the Broncos.
