Eagles Make Late Addition to Schedule

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team made a late addition to its schedule yesterday, Jan. 18, as the team will compete at the Doug Hansen Open, tomorrow, Jan. 20, in University Center, Mich.

Last week, the Eagles attended the Simmons-Harvey Invitational, Jan. 14, hosted by Michigan. There, the Green and White had a number of strong performances, as the team totaled six top-three finishes throughout the day. In the 60m dash, junior Leighton Antonio (Hudson, Ohio - Hudson) qualified into the finals, ultimately finishing atop the podium after clocking in at 6.92 seconds.

Eastern also picked up a top-three finish in the 600m run, as junior Tom Jozwiak (Southgate, Mich. - Thomas J. Anderson) finished second with a time of 1:23.34. The 60m hurdles saw sophomore Frank Douglas (Mansfield, Ohio - Madison Comprehensive) qualify into the finals and secure third-place, crossing the finish line in 8.20 seconds.

The Green and White had a spectacular day in the jumps, as Eastern had a student-athlete finish no worse than third in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump. Sophomore Cameron Hart (Columbus, Ohio - Bishop Hartley) participated in both the high jump and the long jump, finishing third and first with marks of 2.00 meters/ 6 feet 6.75-inches and 7.07 meters/ 23 feet 2.5-inches, respectively. Fellow sophomore Micah Peters (York, Ontario - Vaughn Road Academy) also finished first in the triple jump, posting a jump of 14.55 meters/ 47 feet 9-inches.

The Doug Hansen Open is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m. with the high jump, while running events will kick off at 4 p.m. with the 60m hurdles. For a complete schedule of events, please click here.
