The Green and White will square off against Wayne State and Tiffin, Jan. 21

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Hot off its 71st consecutive Mid-American Conference dual victory, the Eastern Michigan University men's swimming & diving team returns to the pool for a tri-dual against Wayne State University and Tiffin University, Saturday, Jan. 21, at Jones Natatorium.

The Eagles opened 2017 with a 150-125 win over Ball State University, Jan. 14. Eastern Michigan won 15-of-16 events and 13 different Eagles registered wins on the way to victory. Sophomore Tom Gillis (Halifax, Nova Scotia-Citadel) grabbed first-place on both the 1 and 3 meter springboards as the only diver to break the 300-point barrier in both events. Freshman Parker Saladin (Buchanan, Mich.-Buchanan) added a win in the 200 Butterfly, touching in with a career-best time of 1:51.24, while senior Chris Cutter (Fishers, Ind.-Fishers), sophomore Tosh Kawaguchi (Cary, N.C.-Cary), junior Logan Burton (Chesapeake, Va.-Hickory), and junior Connor Johnson (Fort Bragg, N.C.-Fort Terry Sanford) turned in season-best times en route to first-place finishes.

Since taking part in the EMU Invitational back in December, Wayne State has split a pair of conference duals. After falling to Grand Valley State to open the new year, the Warriors topped Findlay, 157-77, Jan. 13. Overall, Wayne State is 3-2 in duals this season. Meanwhile, Tiffin fell short against Edinboro, 97-88, in its lone dual since the start of 2017. The Dragons have struggled in dual competition and currently sit at 0-4 on the season, but are coming off of their highest team point total of the year. Both teams will square off in conference action, Jan. 20, prior to battling the Eagles on Saturday.

Competition from Jones Natatorium is slated to begin at 1 p.m. and can be followed through MeetMobile or by live results, which can be found here.
