YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — On Saturday, Jan. 7, the Eastern Michigan Department of Athletics, with the volunteer efforts of more than 60 EMU student-athletes, held the third annual Student-Athlete Thank-A-Thon in "The Factory" at Rynearson Stadium. Eagle student-athletes volunteered their time to make over 600 personal thank you calls to 2016 calendar year Eagles Pride donors.
"It was wonderful to host this annual event that many of our student-athletes participated in for the second and even third time" added EMU Vice President and Director of Athletics Heather Lyke. "Growing our student-athletes' understanding of giving back to the University and connecting them to the people who directly and generously support their efforts is great for all parties."
"Watching student-athletes with previous Thank-A-Thon experience teach their teammates about the importance of what they were doing and share laughter and stories of their donor connections made for a great Saturday," said EMU Associate Athletic Director for Development Dan McLean. "We hope our donors enjoyed the phone calls of appreciation and see the positive impact they are helping create for our young people."
EMU Athletics would also like to acknowledge and thank corporate partner, Marco's Pizza, for providing meals for the day.
Alumni and fans have a variety of ways to give back to Eastern Michigan Athletics. Those options include: becoming a season ticket holder and attending games, supporting EMU student-athletes through becoming a member of Eagles Pride or investing in the future of the department with a contribution of a major gift for facilities upgrade, or a planned gift to leave a legacy at Eastern Michigan.
