Kendall Valentin Named MAC Specialist of the Week

The junior led EMU to a pair of victories this past weekend

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — For the first time this season, junior Kendall Valentin (Holmdel, N.J. - Holmdel) of the Eastern Michigan University women's gymnastics team was named the Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday, Jan. 17.
Valentin led the Eagles to a second-place finish at the Illinois Quad-Meet this past weekend, Jan. 14, besting both Rutgers and UIC on the team's first road meet of the season. In addition to helping the team score a strong 194.725, Valentin also won bars with a beautiful routine, scoring a 9.90. In fact, the Holmdel, N.J. native currently ranks No. 24 in the nation on bars with an average score of 9.862. Additionally, she also competed on beam, scoring a solid 9.80 to pace the EMU lineup.
This marks the second MAC weekly award of Valentin's career, as she was named the MAC Gymnast of the Week following the team's season-opening meet last year. Valentin and the Green and White resume action this Friday, Jan. 20, traveling north to Mount Pleasant, Mich. for a Friday matchup with Central Michigan at 7 p.m.
