Eagles and Rodes Take Second Place at Windon Memorial

GLENVIEW, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team put the Windon Memorial in the books Monday, Sept. 26, when the squad put together 298 and finished with a team score of 868 which earned the Eagles a second place finish. The score put them at four-over as a team, finishing seven strokes behind the University of Florida, who won the tournament with an 861.
Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) led the way for Eastern shooting a two-under, 70, on Monday at North Shore Country Club. Rodes tied for second overall with a total score of 212 (76-66-60=212), good for four-under in three rounds. It marked Rodes' second career top-five finsh and his first since a runner-up showing at the 2016 Mid-American Conference Championship, April 28-30.
Beau Breault (Howell, Mich.-Hartland) tied for eighth, firing a final three-round score of one-over (72-70-75=217), while Jared Multer (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview (Grand Rapids C.C.)) consistently shot a 73 in all three rounds of the tournament. Multer's 219 put him tied for 14th place to close out the memorial outing. Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) and Philippe Weppernig (Lucerne, Switzerland-Kantonsschule Alpenquai Luzern (Owens C.C.)) closed out the Eagles' roster, shooting an 80 and 82, respectively, in the final round. Ross finished tied for 24th, while Weppernig's score placed him at a tie for 63rd place.
The Green and White will get back to the tee box Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 3-4, when they head to Akron, Ohio to take part in the Firestone Classic.
