Andresson Nabs MAC Runner of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - The Mid-American Conference announced today, Sept. 20, that Eastern Michigan University men's cross country redshirt junior Hlynur Andresson (Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland - Mountain Ridge) was named the MAC Runner of the Week for his performance at the Spartan Invitational, Sept. 16.
Andresson had a fantastic season debut at the Spartan Invitational this past weekend, Sept. 16. The Iceland native led the Eagles to a second-place team finish after amassing 42 points, which was just 13 points behind Michigan State, and 10 points better than third-place Miami.
Individually, Andresson finished fourth in a tough field of runners, clocking in at 25:00 in his first race of the year. The honor is the first of Andresson's career, and the first for the Eagles during the young 2016 season.
Andresson and the Eagles will resume action in two weeks, heading to South Bend, Ind. for the Notre Dame Invitational, Sept. 30.
