YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — With just a few days left before the 2016 Eastern Michigan University football season, the EMU Department of Athletics has announced that two new fan zones will be coming to "The Factory" at Rynearson Stadium to enhance the experience surrounding football gameday.
There will be two separate locations that provide a unique fan experience. Prior to the game, an area located just outside the main gate entrance in front of the stadium, fashionably named "The Quad", will provide a new fun experience pregame, while the "Touchdown Terrace" will give fans a new spot to enjoy viewing the game during play.
"The Quad" will be located outside of gate two in front of Rynearson Stadium off of Hewitt Road. The new area will contain a pregame party tent, food trucks, EMU corporate partners and the Kids Zone. Inside the tent, patrons will be welcome to purchase beer compliments of Arbor Brewing Company. The tent will be for individual age 21-and-over, and a pint of beer will cost $7.
As part of the new tailgate and entertainment space, food trucks will be parked in the space, offering a variety of freshly prepared entrees to fans. Food Trucks confirmed thus far for the 2016 season are: Andiamo Italian, Cheese Street of Ann Arbor, Jamerican Grill of Ypsilanti, El Manatial and Bigalora. In addition, fans will be able to enjoy watching sporting events on a 75-inch double-sided television truck in the center of all the action.
Turn It Up Turn It Green will move to "The Quad" for 2016 and begin two and a half hours prior to kickoff and feature appearances by the EMU cheer and dance teams, along with the EMU marching band and football team.
As always, two EMU inflatables will make up the kids zone - an obstacle course and jump house - and new for 2016 is the kids zone football field!
Also, located out front of the stadium will be the corporate village, which will provide fans the opportunity to learn more about different local establishments and receive giveaway items each game including: Ann Arbor Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Cueter Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, EMU Financial, Jimmy John's, Noodles & Co., The Lake Shore Apartments, and more.
The "Touchdown Terrace" will be located in a cordoned off area on the patio in front of the Convocation Center overlooking the football field. On the patio, fans will be able to purchase beer, soda and water. This area is open to fans of all ages, but in order to purchase beer, individuals must show valid photographic identification along with a game ticket to receive a wristband. The "Touchdown Terrace" provides a unique viewing area for all fans where they will be able to get an up close and personal view every time an Eagle crosses the southern goal line to score an Eastern Michigan touchdown.
"Arbor Brewing Company is thrilled to have the opportunity to show our support for EMU athletics through this partnership," said Rene Greff, Arbor Brewing Company co-founder. "We are fortunate to have a Division I program right here in our backyard and believe the new Quad and Touchdown Terrace are going to generate excitement and help raise the profile of the program in the community. What could be better than fall afternoons drinking local beer while supporting the home team."
