RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (EMUEagles.com) -
Eastern Michigan University men's track and field alumnus Eric Alejandro ('08) resumed action today, August 16, in the semifinals of the 400m hurdles at the 2016 Olympic Games. Fighting for a spot in his first-ever Olympic finals, Alejandro ran a solid race in a tough heat of the world's top hurdlers.

In his second-ever Olympic semifinals, the former Eagle posted a time of 49.95 seconds, which was good for seventh in his heat. Overall, Alejandro finished 23rd, ultimately missing out on a bid to the finals.

This marks the end of the 2016 Games for the Green and White, as Alejandro was the only current or former Eagle student-athlete participating. The EMU men's and women's track and field programs have combined to have a representative at each Olympic Games since 1960, now totaling an impressive 15 straight Olympics.
