Eagles will spend five days in Nassau

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Heading into his sixth season at the helm of the Eastern Michigan University men's basketball program, Head Coach Rob Murphy announced that his 2016-17 squad will head to Nassau, Bahamas, for an international trip hosted by SportsTour International, Aug. 23-27. The team will partake in three games during their stay versus Bahamian National Teams.

"This gives us the opportunity to face foreign competition, while strengthening our team camaraderie as we prepare for the upcoming season," remarked Murphy. "We're very fortunate to our loyal men's basketball donors for helping this exciting experience happen for our basketball program."

The Eagles will fly to the Bahamas Tuesday, Aug. 23, and return Sunday, Aug. 28. During the six-day trip, the Green and White will play in three formal exhibition contests versus Bahamian National Teams. All of the Eagles' games will be played at the 2,500-seat Kendal Isaacs National Gymnasium inside of the Queen Elizabeth Sports Center. All three contests will be played using International Basketball Federation rules and will be officiated by individuals assigned by the Bahamas Basketball Federation. During their time in the Bahamas, the Eagles will be spending time touring the island and providing community service.

The NCAA allows teams to take a foreign trip once every four years. Division I teams are also permitted 10 full summer practices in preparation for a foreign trip. EMU players will remain on campus over the summer for their usual offseason workout regimen and begin practice leading up to the trip.

Fans wishing to attend the games can buy tickets at the door for $10. Below is a full schedule of games for the Eagles in the Bahamas.
