Sports Talk 1050 (WTKA-AM) returns as the radio home of the EMU coaches show
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University's "All E Show" for the 2016-17 athletic campaign will have a familiar spot on the radio dial starting in August. The EMU Department of Athletics and Cumulus Media Ann Arbor have agreed to a partnership for the upcoming year that will include the broadcast of a weekly coaches show along with numerous cross-promotional activities across Cumulus' three stations.
The agreement involves radio stations W4 County (102.9 WWWW-FM), Ann Arbor's 107.1 (WQKL-FM) and Sports Talk 1050 (WTKA-AM). The conglomerate has a weekly base of more than 339,000 adult listeners in the market with many more able to access the stations' streams online or via the iHeartRadio application.
"We are grateful and excited that WTKA has agreed to serve as the home of the 'All E Show' for EMU Athletics," said EMU Vice President/Director of Athletics Heather Lyke. "Fans of sports talk in southeastern Michigan have grown up listening to WTKA and we love being a part of that history with engaged listeners who will enjoy learning more about Eastern Michigan and the success of our athletic programs."
The coaches show, which is branded as the "All E Show" includes EMU head coaches along with Lyke. The 30-minute weekly show on Sports Talk 1050, a CBS Sports Radio affiliate, will be hosted by EMU Associate Athletic Director Greg Steiner.
The first show will occur Monday, Aug. 29, at 6:30 p.m. and remain in that time slot throughout the football season. During the winter, the basketball-centric shows will shift to Thursday evenings also at 6:30 p.m. On-demand replays will be available on the station's website.
"Eastern Michigan University is an integral part of this community," said Matt Spaulding, the Vice President/Market Manager for Cumulus Media Ann Arbor. "We believe that through this partnership we will, together, provide a platform which celebrates the student-athlete, the vibrancy of EMU's athletic program and provide the oxygen to the heart of Eastern Michigan University Athletics. "
Cumulus Media Ann Arbor will be cross-promoting the show throughout the year, which will include select giveaways for fans, such as free tickets to EMU home games. Also, as part of the agreement, EMU will also receive on-site broadcasts and appearances throughout the year at select home events.
WEMU (89.1 FM) will continue to be the flagship station for broadcasts of football and men's and women's basketball games.
