MAC Releases Preseason Football Poll at Media Day

Western Michigan and Bowling Green were selected to win their respective divisions
DETROIT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University football team was picked to finish sixth in the Mid-American Conference West Division determined by select members of the league's media contingent. The annual preseason poll was released Thursday, July 28, at the conference's 2016 football media day held at Ford Field.
The Eagles received 35 votes in the annual poll, while Western Michigan was selected first in the West Division with 144 points followed by Toledo (113), Northern Illinois (112), Central Michigan (98), Ball State (44), and EMU.
Bowling Green was chosen to win the East Division title with 136 points while Ohio (134) and Akron (107) rounded out the top-three. Buffalo was chosen fourth in the East with 75 points followed in order by Miami (52) and Kent State (42).
A total of six teams received votes for winning the annual Marathon MAC Football Championship Game between the winners of the West and East Divisions. The Broncos led the way with 19 votes, while Toledo and Northern Illinois garnered two votes apiece. Central Michigan, Bowling Green, and Akron rounded out the vote-getters, with one vote each.
Head Coach Chris Creighton and the rest of the Eagles will hit the gridiron under the lights at "The Factory" inside Rynearson Stadium, Friday, Sept. 2, when the Green and White square off against Mississippi Valley State to open the 2016 season.
