YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Three members of this seasons Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving teams will be competing at the 2016 Olympic Swimming Trials in hopes of representing the United States at the Rio Olympic Games, Aug. 5-21. Senior Andrew Henry (Garner, N.C.-West Johnson), junior Cole Bateman (Hutchinson, Minn.-Hutchinson), and junior Alexis Mitcheltree (Moon Twp., Pa.-Moon Area) have all qualified to compete at this year's trials, June 26-July 3, in Omaha, Neb.

Henry, the reigning Mid-American Conference Outstanding Swimmer of the Year and 2016 NCAA qualifier, will compete in  the 100 and 200 freestyle. The First Team All-MAC awardwinner's name appears in the EMU record books five times, highlighted by three school records, including both the 100 and 200 free.

After sweeping the 100 and 200 backstroke at the MAC Championships, Bateman will compete in the same events at the trials. A First Team All-MAC selection, Bateman ranks second in EMU history in the backstroke events.

Rounding out the trio of Olympic hopefuls is Mitcheltree, Eastern Michigan's record holder in the 100 and 200 backstroke on the women's side. Mitcheltree qualified to compete in the both backstroke events at the trials.
