Swimming and Diving Earns CSCAA Scholar All-America Status

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Both Eastern Michigan University's men's and women's swimming and diving programs were named to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) NCAA Division I Scholar All-American Teams for the 2016 Spring semester, as announced by the CSCAA Wednesday, June 15.
The CSCAA designated 658 collegiate swimming and diving programs as Scholar All-American teams this semester. It is only the second time in the program's 30+ year history that more than 600 teams were recognized. Roughly 80 percent of all NCAA Division I swimming and diving programs earned GPA's of 3.0 or higher during the spring semester. To earn CSCAA Scholar All-American honors, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher during the Spring semester. Six Mid-American Conference men's teams appeared on the list, while all eight teams made the cut on the women's side.
On the women's side, the Eagles paired a runner-up finish at the MAC Championships with excellence in the classroom. Boasting a team grade point average of 3.36 during the Spring semester, the Green and White landed 13 on the Academic All-MAC squad.
The men make the list months after capturing the program's 33rd MAC Championship, while owning a team grade point average of 3.28 during the Spring semester. Eastern Michigan led the conference with 16 student-athletes making the Academic All-MAC squad.
