Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success on the field
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Each week, the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics names the EMU Financial's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic media relations department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball player Augie Gallardo and track and field athlete Willy Fink.
Augie Gallardo
Sport: Baseball
Position: RHP
Year: Senior
Major: Sport Management
Week's Achievements: Gallardo, in his final EMU appearance, pitched one of the best games of his career in a 6-1 win over Toledo, May 27. The right hander tossed his first career complete game, while only allowing one run on five hits while striking out six. The performance pushed Eastern into the semifinals the next day against Kent State.

Willy FinkSport: Men's Track and Field

Year: R-Junior
Major: Chemistry (Masters)
Week's Achievements: Fink turned in the best 3000m steeplechase race of his career en route to qualifying for the 2016 NCAA Championships. Fink had a fantastic race, finishing third in his heat, and eighth overall, to qualify to the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season. Fink clocked in with an incredibly impressive time of 8:40.60, which was a personal-best by nearly seven seconds and bumped him to fifth in the EMU record books.
