Toledo Invitational Information
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – After a packed week in Iowa, Michigan, and California, the Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team wraps up the regular season closer to home, heading south down US-23 to the Toledo Invitational, May 5-6. The event will serve as a practice run for the Mid-American Conference Championships, as Toledo will play host to the event in two weeks, May 12-14.
Last week, the Eagles had a pair of runners appear in the top-100 times nationally. Beginning in mid-distance, sophomore Natalie Cizmas (Clinton Twp., Mich. – Chippewa Valley) ran in the 1500m Championship at the Gina Relays, April 29, finishing second with a personal-best time of 4:21.96. Her mark was good enough for the No. 84 spot nationally so far this season. Additionally, junior Alsu Bogdanova (Kazan, Russia – Lyceum #83) made her debut in the 3000m steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 10:35.20. Not only was her time third quickest in the EMU record books, but it also put her in the No. 85 slot on the national level.
The meet is slated to kick off Thursday, May 5, at 3 p.m. with the hammer throw. The majority of the meet, however, takes place Friday, May 6, with the javelin throw getting the day started at 9 a.m. Track events are scheduled to begin at noon with the 4x100m relay.
