Toledo Invitational Meet Information
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – After a late schedule addition, the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team will conclude the regular season at the Toledo Invitational, May 5-6. The event will serve as a practice run for the Mid-American Conference Championships, as Toledo will play host to the event in two weeks, May 12-14.
Last week, the Green and White had a pair of events show up in the top-100 times nationally. Highlighting the two events was senior Jeff Elam (Latrobe, Pa. – Greater Latrobe Senior), who ran in the 400m hurdles at the prestigious Drake Relays, April 30. Elam crossed the finish line in 51.04 to take the title, with his time also being a personal-best by nearly half a second. Additionally, Elam rose to fourth in the EMU record books, and now claims the No. 20 spot nationally so far this season. Additionally, the Eagles' 4x400m relay team of Elam, seniors Matthew Williams (Moreno Valley, Calif. – Vista Del Lago) and Mason Waynes (Kenosha, Wis. – Bradford), and junior Tyler Brown (Findlay, Ohio – Findlay) crossed the finish line in 3:09.22, putting the group at No. 78 in the country as the regular season nears its close.
The meet is scheduled to begin Thursday, May 5, at 3 p.m. with the hammer throw. However, the majority of the meet takes place Friday, May 6, with the javelin throw getting the day started at 9 a.m. Following that, track events are scheduled to begin at noon with the 4x100m relay.
