Gallardo, Mioduszewski Named to the All-Tournament Team

The two Eagles had two of the best performances of the week
AVON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University baseball team landed two players on the 2016 Mid-American Conference All-Tournament team the conference announced today, May 29. Senior Augie Gallardo (Hemet, Calif.-Hemet (Mt. San Jacinto College)) and redshirt junior Michael Mioduszewski (Dexter, Mich.-Dexter) were named to the 10-player list. They are the first Eagles named to the team since 2011.
Gallardo, in his final EMU appearance, pitched one of the best games of his career in a 6-1 win over Toledo, May 27. The right hander tossed his first career complete game, while only allowing one run on five hits while striking out six. The performance pushed Eastern into the semifinals the next day against Kent State.
Mioduszewski put together one of the best offensive performances of the week for both Eastern and the conference as a whole. The outfielder hit a huge .412 over his five game stretch, that included seven hits, with a double and a home run. He drove in a tournament best five RBI's and also drew four walks, finishing with the third best on-base percentage at .524.
He had three, two-hit games in a row to finish out the tournament, including a two-hit, two-RBI game which included his home run, in the first semifinal game against Kent State, May 28, a 10-5 victory.
The Eagles posted three victories over a four day span in this season's tournament, en route to their first semifinal appearance since 2011. As a team, the Eagles posted the best ERA of any team, pitching a remarkable 2.51 over five games, 43.0 innings total. They struck out the second most batters on the week, posting 32 K's.
Offensively, Eastern clubbed the most home runs, tied for the most doubles, tied for second in runs scored, and had the third most hits of any team in the championship.
