YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team makes its first appearance in Ohio State University's Robert Kepler Intercollegiate since 2014 when it travels to Columbus, Ohio, this weekend. Due to forecasted inclement weather, the event has been shortened to 36 holes and 10:30 a.m. shotgun starts are now scheduled for both days of competition.
The 36-hole event will consist of 18 holes on Saturday, April 9, and 18 holes on Sunday, April 10, at the par-71, 7,455-yard OSU Golf Club's Scarlet Course.
EMU will be competing against a field that includes two other Mid-American Conference members (Bowling Green and Kent State) as well as Dayton, Liberty, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State, Southern Illinois, UAB, UNLV, West Virginia, Wright State, and the host Buckeyes.
Senior Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) and junior Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) are the only active EMU student-athlete to have played a collegiate tournament on the fabled Scarlet Course. White placed 72nd in the 2014 event with a two-day total of 238 (89-76-83) while Rodes was 79th with a 241 (73-77-81), as EMU finished in 15th place in the team standings.
During the 2010 campaign, the Eagles shot a 296 in the final round to capture the 41st Annual Robert Kepler Intercollegiate championship with a 54-hole total of 861 (287-288-286). EMU's two-day, three-round mark shattered the event's previous three-round record of 863 set by Ohio State during the 1998 tournament.
Live results throughout the two-day event will be available via Golfstat.com and full results from each day will be available at the end of the day on EMUEagles.com.
