Trent Perry Named to Academic All-MAC Team

He earned the award for the second-straight season
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- The Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday, April 6, that Eastern Michigan University's men's basketball redshirt-sophomore Trent Perry (Franklin, Tenn.-Independence) were honored as members of the 2016 Academic All-MAC team as student-athletes who excel both on the court and in the classroom.
Central Michigan led all teams in the conference with four selections followed by Akron, Toledo and Western Michigan with two student-athletes. Ball State, EMU and Miami rounded out the group with one honoree apiece.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
Perry appeared in 19 games during the 2015-16 season, averaging posting a season best six points when the Eagles traveled to nationally-ranked Michigan State, Nov. 23. Perry was named a captain for Eastern Michigan for the third-straight year and played in 11 of the Eagles' 18 MAC games this season. Perry is a marketing major, boasting a 3.21 grade point average.
