Bogdanova Named MAC Track Athlete of the Week

The honor comes on the heels of a spectacular run at the Stanford Invitational

Cleveland, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference announced today, April 5, that junior Alsu Bogdanova (Kazan, Russia – Lyceum #83) was named MAC Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Stanford Invitational, April 1. The junior turned in a spectacular performance while competing against some of the top student-athletes in the country.
Running in the 5000m, Bogdanova turned in a scorching time of 15:58.61, nearly 30 seconds quicker than her fastest indoor 5000m time, to finish fourth in a talented field of runners. Her time also shattered the previous program record held by teammate Jordann McDermitt (Davison, Mich. – Davison) by nearly nine seconds. Additionally, the junior's time is the sixth-fastest in the nation so far this season, and is just six seconds out from the top-three.
Bogdanova and the Eagles continue their outdoor season this weekend with the Spartan Invitational, April 8-9. Action from East Lansing, Mich. is slated to begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 8, while Saturday, April 9, will begin at 9:40 a.m. For more information on the meet, please click here.
