Women's Track and Field Closes Drake and Gina Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team wrapped up their time in Iowa, completing the Drake Relays today, April 30. EMU closed out the meet with a bronze medal in the triple jump, as well as a pair of solid marks in the pole vault.
After a packed day of competition yesterday, the Eagles only had a total of four competitors on the day. The top finisher of the day was sophomore Dace Dreimane (Ventspils, Latvia – Ventspils Gymnasium No. 1) in the triple jump. Dreimane took home bronze after posting a mark of 12.40 meters/ 40 feet 8.25-inches. The Green and White also had a trio of competitors in the pole vault, where senior Ellie Braidic (Pandora, Ohio – Pandora-Gilboa) notched a career-best vault of 4.05 meters/ 13 feet 3.5-inches. Her mark also moved her up to fifth all-time in the EMU record books. Junior Natalie Uy (Kettering, Ohio – Fairmont) also had a solid vault, posting a mark of 3.90 meters/ 12 feet 9.5-inches.
To cap off the weekend, the Eagles have a lone competitor set to compete at the Payton Jordan Invitational tomorrow, May 1, in Stanford, Calif.
