Eagles In Second After Day Two of the MAC Championships

SYLVANIA, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – After two days and three rounds at the 2016 Mid-American Conference men's golf championship, the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team is positioned in second place with an overall team score of 879 (288-295-296) Friday, April 29. Kent State University is atop the leaderboard, posting a 12-over 864 (288-291-285) following 54 holes of golf at the Highland Meadows Golf Club course.
The Golden Flashes hold a 15-stroke lead following day two. That total includes holding down four of the tournament's top nine slots. EMU is in second place followed by Northern Illinois (880), Miami (888) and Akron (982). Tied for sixth are Toledo (898) and Bowling Green (898), while Ball State (905) and Ohio (921) sit in eighth and ninth place, respectively.
After shooting a 66 and 75 on day one, senior Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) fired a two-over, 73, on Friday, totaling a score of 214, good for second place overall. White is just two shots off of NIU's Joo-Young Lee who is one-under after three rounds.
Also in the top-20 for the Eagles are junior Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) and sophomore Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary School). Rodes is currently tied for sixth with a 217 cumulative score (70-77-70) and has recorded 13 birdies to this point, good for the most overall in the tournament. Ross is tied for 16th after firing a 76 today. Ross has an overall score of 224 (74-74-76). Freshman Beau Breault (Howell, Mich.-Hartland) and junior Jake McNulty (Port Perry, Ontario, Canada-Port Perry-VCU) round out the Eastern Michigan lineup. Breault is tied for 26th with a 228 (78-73-77), while McNulty's 229 (79-73-77) is tied for 28th.
Tee times for the fourth and final round at Highland Meadows have been set for Saturday, April 30. The final round will begin at 7:45 a.m. The Eagles will not tee off until 9:15 a.m. when McNulty leads things off for EMU. For live scoring, visit http://www.golfstat.com.
