DES MOINES, Iowa (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team began competition at the prestigious Drake Relays yesterday, April 27. Eastern had one participant take part in day one of the heptathlon.
Freshman Rebekah Carr (Celina, Ohio – Celina) represented the Eagles on the day, competing in the first four events of the heptathlon. Beginning with the 200m dash, the freshman clocked in at 27.53, setting a new personal-best. From there, Carr posted a time of 16.58 in the 100m hurdles. In the high jump, she notched a mark of 1.48 meters/ 4 feet 10.25-inches, posting another career-best. Finally, in the shot put, she nabbed her third personal-best on the day with a throw of 8.37 meters/ 27 feet 5.5-inches. Following the first day of the heptathlon, Carr sat in 18th-place with a total of 2335 points.
Carr and the Eagles continue action at the Drake Relays today, April 28. Additionally, the team will also have student-athletes competing at the Gina Relays in Hillsdale.
