Savanah White Signs with Eagles

White is one of two Californians in the incoming class
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University Softball Head Coach Melissa Gentile announced the signing of Savanah White (Visalia, Calif.-Redwood) today, April 27.
White joins the class of Arielle Anderson (Marion, Ohio-Pleasant), Sam Islay (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Coffman), Ariana Chretien (Commerce, Mich.-Walled Lake Northern Commerce), and Dani Rico (Moreno Valley, Calif.-Grand Terrace) who signed NLI's back in November.
"I am thrilled to add Savanah to the 2016 recruiting class and I know she will have an immediate impact," Gentile said. "As a pitcher she brings a different look than what we have had here at EMU recently and she can also hit for herself which is a big bonus. She is a quality person and is committed to being a difference maker in the classroom as well. She will be a great addition to our program and I look forward to getting her on campus this fall to get to work!"
A pitcher from the west coast, White has pieced together a decorated prep career at Redwood High School. With a senior stat line that features a 1.38 earned run average and a .458 batting average, White can make an instant impact for the Eagles on both sides of the game as a pitcher and utility player. A three-sport athlete in high school, White reeled in multiple MVP honors in volleyball and basketball in addition to countless honors on the diamond. Named Rookie of the Year as a freshman, White has also been named First Team All-County, First Team All-League, Second Team All-League, and Fresno Bee Honorable mention while leading her team to three consecutive conference championship games. In the travel circuit, White has most recently played for the Central California Firecrackers 18 Gold squad, helping the team to a ninth-place ranking nationally.
White and the rest of the 2016 class will arrive on campus in Ypsilanti in the fall, joining the team for fall ball before officially opening the 2017 season in February.
