Fink Repeats as MAC Track Athlete of the Week

The redshirt junior earned the honor for the second week straight

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference announced today, April 26, that redshirt junior Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio – Maumee) of the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team was named MAC Track Athlete of the Week. This marks his second honor of the outdoor season, as he also received the honor last week.
Specifically, Fink participated in the 3000m steeplechase at the Jesse Owens Classic, April 22-23. There, the redshirt junior turned in a speedy time of 8:51.98, giving him the gold medal and besting the second-place finisher by nearly eight seconds. On the national level, Fink's time currently sits in the No. 29 spot.
The honor is the third for Fink this year, as he was also honored once during the indoor season. The Eagles continue their outdoor season this week with a trio of meets taking place in Iowa, as well as Michigan. The student-athletes staying close to home will partake in the Gina Relays, April 29-30, while others will head west to Iowa for the Kip Janvrin Open, April 28, and the Drake Relays, April 28-30.
