EMU to Host MAC Tournament First Round Doubleheader

The women will tip off at 5 p.m. inside the Convocation Center Monday, March 9, followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University men's and women's basketball teams will play host to the first round of the 2016 Mid-American Conference Tournament Presented by VisitMyrtleBeach.com Monday, March 7, inside the Convocation Center.
EMU women's basketball will take on Kent State University in the first round of the tournament. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m. Eastern defeated Kent State earlier this season, 72-51, at the Convocation Center, Jan. 16.
On the men's side, the Eagles posted an impressive 79-75 road victory over the University of Toledo Friday, March 4, inside Savage Arena. Head Coach Rob Murphy's crew will now have to again square off against the No. 9 seeded Rockets to cap off the doubleheader at 7:30 p.m. or a half hour following the conclusion of the women's contest. The Eagles swept the regular season series, including posting a 91-85 decision at the Convo back on Feb. 20.
The EMU Department of Athletics invites all fans to a tailgate party inside the Convocation Center's atrium on Monday. The party will begin at 6 p.m. and will include music, food, giveaways and a cash bar at the event.
For students, EMU will be giving away tickets to a suite for the upcoming Ellie Goulding concert at the Convocation Center. Ten lucky students will win a pair of suite tickets to the May 9 show. In addition to the concert giveaway, fans have the chance at winning the MAC Finals Package. Two fans will be selected to win a weekend trip to Cleveland for MAC Tournament finals weekend. The lucky winners will take home a two-night stay in Cleveland, March 11-12, and a pair of tickets to the MAC men's and women's semifinal and championship games at Quicken Loans Arena. Also, the fraternity and sorority with the highest number in attendance will receive a free customized E-hoodie with its Greek letters.

Fans can purchase green level premium seats for $12, while youth tickets will cost $7. Single-game white level reserved tickets will be $10 and youth seating will be $5. Additionally, courtside seats will be available for $50 per seat. These tickets will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
As the Eagles continue to advance into the MAC Tournament, EMU Athletics is planning to provide transportation for every fan who wishes to travel to Cleveland to see Eastern Michigan basketball in action at Quicken Loans Arena. Fan buses will be provided for the semifinal and championship games, departing from the Convocation Center on Friday and Saturday morning and returning to Ypsilanti following the final EMU game that day.
All EMU basketball fans are invited to a pre-game gathering at The Butcher & the Brewer (2043 E 4th St, Cleveland, OH 44115), located just a few blocks away from "The Q". Scheduled for Friday, March 11, should the EMU men's team still be playing in the tournament, join fellow EMU alumni, students and fans for this exciting event which marks just the second time EMU will have its own home in Cleveland. For just $10, fans can enjoy appetizers and special pregame appearances by the EMU band, cheerleaders, athletic department administrators and coaches. The event will get underway two hours prior to the scheduled tipoff of EMU's game.
