Green and White Set to Open Outdoor Season

The Eagles will begin their outdoor campaign with a pair of meets

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – After taking home the Mid-American Conference title in the indoor season, the Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team begins their outdoor campaign this weekend, April 1-2, with a pair of meets. The Eagles will attend both the Bronco Classic hosted by Western Michigan, April 1, and the Stanford Invitational, April 1-2.
Eastern will have three student-athletes make the trek to Palo Alto, Calif., all of them being distance runners. Senior Sofie Gallein (Gits, Belgium – University of Leuven) will participate in the 3000m steeplechase, the event in which she finished 18th at NCAA Outdoor Championships last season. Additionally, junior Alsu Bogdanova (Kazan, Russia – Lyceum #83) is set to run in the 5000m after taking home the MAC Championships in the event during the indoor season. Finally, sophomore Jordann McDermitt (Davison, Mich. – Davison) will run in the 10000m, which she ran twice last year as a freshman. The remaining Eagles will make the short drive west to Kalamazoo, Mich. to compete in the Bronco Classic.
Action from Kalamazoo will take place throughout the day on Friday, April 1, while the Stanford Invite begins Friday, April 1, at 9 a.m. Pacific time. On Saturday, April 2, the meet continues at 9 a.m. Pacific time as well. For more information on the Stanford Invite, please click here.
