Eagles Travel to Cincinnati to Continue Outdoor Season

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – After a solid start to the outdoor season at the Raleigh Relays, March 25-26, the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team continues the outdoor campaign with the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational, April 1-2.
The Eagles will look to build on the team's performance from last weekend in which the mid-distance and distance groups nabbed a pair of third-place finishes. Redshirt junior Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio – Maumee) paced the Eagles, running the 10000m in a time of 29:04.92 to place third. Not only was Fink's time a personal-best in the event, but it was also the fifth-fastest in EMU history. In addition to the 10000m, the team also found success in the 4x1500m relay, with the group of graduate student Joshua Sabo (Akron, Ohio – Revere), and redshirt sophomores Kieran Reilly (Dover, Great Britain - Dover Grammar School for Boys), Mitch Lenneman (River Falls, Wis. – River Falls), and Hlynur Andresson (Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland - Mountain Ridge) nabbing the bronze in 16:00.03.
Action from Cincinnati is slated to begin Friday, April 1, with the men starting at 3 p.m. with the hammer throw. On Saturday, April 2, the meet continues at 10 a.m. with the javelin, and concludes at 4:55 p.m. with the 4x400m relay. For more information on the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational, please click here.
