The No. 24 Eastern Michigan University women's gymnastics team learned today, March 21, that the team will be traveling down the road to Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan for NCAA Regionals, April 2. The announcement, which was made today on the NCAA Selection Show, marks the first time that the Eagles have qualified for the event as a team.

Joining the Eagles at the Ann Arbor Regional will be No. 6 Auburn, No. 7 Michigan, No. 18 Stanford, No. 25 Penn State, and No. 33 New Hampshire.

NCAA Regional selection is primarily based on Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) ranking, with the top-36 making the cut. The Eagles have been ranked within the top-25 for a program record eight weeks this season, after coming up just short last season in the No. 37 spot.

Eastern had an incredible regular season in which the team broke the program record for team score six different times, including their highest score ever at a 196.6 at Bowling Green, Feb. 13. The Eagles finished the regular season 15-3-1, marking the most regular season wins in EMU history. Additionally, the Green and White were 5-1 in the Mid-American Conference, making the team regular season runner-ups while also posting the most conference victories since 1997.

The Eagles carried the momentum into the MAC Championships, running away with the conference title after scoring 196.425. EMU was the only team to score above a 196, as they won the championship by nearly eight tenths of a point. Specifically, the team had stellar beam and floor rotations, with the beam total of 49.325 being a program record, while the floor total of 49.350 tied for No. 3 in the EMU record books.

The Green and White are one of four teams from the MAC to qualify for NCAA Regionals. No. 30 Kent State and No. 35 Central Michigan will be heading to Iowa City, Iowa, while No. 34 Bowling Green heads to Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Action from the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor is slated to begin April 2 at 6 p.m. Tickets for the NCAA Regional are available on MGoBlue.com/tickets or by calling (734) 764-0247 or (866) 296-MTIX. The price of tickets is $10 for adults, $8 for youth/students/seniors and $5 in advance for groups of 10 or more.
